Our nutrient neutrality
NVS filtration solution

A direct path to nutrient neutrality for UK SME property developers

On-site nutrient neutrality mitigation

Key Features & Benefits

Our system is designed to be a robust and reliable solution for long-term operation and nutrient mitigation.

Gain Project Certainty

  •  Our system is specifically targeted to enable developers to comply with nutrient neutrality regulations and secure planning approval for developments that would otherwise be rejected. This provides a clear, regulator-aligned pathway to getting projects underway.

Avoid Costly Delays

  • The NVS Filtration System offers an on-site solution without the need to bid for credits or wait for councils to set up schemes. This allows developers to sidestep the significant 12-24 month time lag often required for off-site mitigation options, like wetlands, to become operational.

Self-Contained System

  •  As a modular, on-site solution, our system allows developers to self-deliver and offset the nutrient impacts of their projects within the property boundary. This eliminates the dependency on sourcing credits from third parties, giving developers full control over project compliance.

Low-Touch & Self-Sustaining

  • Designed for ease of use, the system requires minimal oversight or maintenance after installation.

Self-Regenerating Performance

  • The system dynamically rotates flow between two alternating filtration tanks. While one chamber filters, the other regenerates, keeping the zeolite absorbents at high proficiency and ensuring nutrient removal is consistent with minimal interruption.

Environmentally Friendly Output

  • By converting captured nitrates and phosphates into harmless nitrogen gas, the system avoids harmful by-products and the need for hard off-site disposal.

The NVS Filtration System is a modular, on-site nutrient removal solution designed specifically for new-build developments and existing housing stock.

Our system enables UK property developers to comply with nutrient neutrality regulations and secure planning approval for projects that would otherwise be stalled. By filtering and treating domestic wastewater before it is discharged into sensitive catchment areas, we provide an immediate and effective path to nutrient compliance.

The Technology: How It Works

Our system utilises an integrated architecture that fuses absorbents for filtration with anaerobic denitrification in a unified, self-sustaining system. The process ensures continuous nutrient removal with minimised maintenance and intervention.

The NVS Filtration System It's made up of three main parts, working in concert, for a continuous cycle to nutrient remediation and filtration from residential domestic water outflows.

Wastewater from houses flow into the systems filtration chambers, which are filled with synthetically modified mineral absorbents. These absorbents act like sponges, absorbing and capturing the nitrate and phosphate nutrients from the domestic outflowing water.

While the one chamber is busy filtering, the other chambers are regenerating. The system utilises a natural, biological process to turn the captured nitrates and phosphates into harmless nitrogen gas, which is safely released into the atmosphere.

A constant, rotating cycle allows the system to run continuously all by itself, ensuring consistent nutrient removal with minimal need for maintenance or human intervention.

This innovative system is the product of pioneering research and development conducted with support from The University of Wolverhampton, the National Brownfield Institute, and the Brownfield Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC).
